Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world, located on the shores of the Beagle Channel and surrounded by the Martial Mounts. Another of Ushuaia’s attractions is the legendary Jail of the End of the World, now transformed into a museum (Museo del Presidio). A must visit, where there are even wax statues of the most famous criminals that were sent to that place. Also, do not miss the “Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino”, a.k.a. the Train of the End of the World which, along with the jail, constitutes an icon of the island. This railway’s history is, as almost everything in this city, linked to the prisoners of the mythical jail.
The land areas are scenic, the waters teeming with fish and marine wildlife. Summer is ideal for adventure tourism: Trekkers, mountain climbers, fishing fans, sailors and bikers will enjoy the challenges of Tierra del Fuego. You can even take amazing trips across the Beagle Channel, Cape Horn up to Argentine Antarctica.
Spanish Courses in Ushuaia at COINED Internacional
The COINED Spanish Language School was founded in 1985 as the academic branch of the Argentine exchange student organization “Comisión de Intercambio Educativo”, better known in Spanish as COINED.
COINED is a non-profit organization active in the field of intercultural exchange and international education since 1971.
The school offers Spanish courses in Ushuaia with very effective features which ensure you to have a fun and faster learning process while getting to enjoy this beautiful location as much as possible.
The COINED school is conveniently located 10 minutes away from the city center and three blocks from the main avenue. The school has 14 classrooms, multimedia equipment, a comfortable reception area, a kitchen and a big lab with 18 computers and free internet access. There is also a library and a teachers’ room. The COINED Spanish Courses include: first day welcome lunch and city walk, first day welcome package, weekly tours and recreational activities calendar, free Internet access via WI FI, access to kitchenette, free coffee, tea, milk, and refrigerated water as well as 24/7 Emergency phone number.
Covering all aspects of Spanish language learning (speaking, listening, writing and reading skills), the Spanish courses are specially designed for foreign students and are taught completely in Spanish. Four, five or six 55-minute classes are held every day from Monday through Friday and the student is free to choose the length of his or her Spanish course.
Average class size is 3 students per class and there are never more than 7 students in a class. Groups are organized in a way that they will always consist of students possessing the same level of Spanish. All teachers are Argentine native speakers of Spanish, trained and experienced in teaching Spanish to foreigners. All of them hold a university degree and have a good general knowledge, which is of great importance to the interaction with the students.

COINED Internacional – Spanish Courses in Ushuaia

Prices for Spanish Courses include: Number of Spanish lessons as specified below, welcome brunch and welcome pack. Guided orientation walk through the city. Internet access, receipt of faxes, coffee, tea and spring water and access to kitchen facilities at the school. 24 hour emergency phone. 2 extra activities per week. Final exam and certificate. Minimum enrollment age: 16 for group Spanish Courses (12 for Private Spanish Courses when accompanied by an adult).

Super Intensive Combined Course: 25 Spanish group lessons as above PLUS 6 Spanish private lessons a week (each lesson=45 Minutes). Minimum stay one week.

COINED Ushuaia – Accommodations
COINED offers different types of accommodations to their students. They have many well screened and experienced families around town or, you may stay in private student residences. Reduced fees in 2 to 5 star hotels are also available upon request.
Of course, if you prefer you can arrange your own accommodation (hotels, friends, etc.)
Host Families: Families belong to Argentina’s middle class, but living standards are a bit lower than in Europe or North America, depending on each situation. Family homes are located in neighborhoods near the center of the city. Public transport is good, easily accessible. All of the families have been carefully selected and are monitored so that your home stay experience is to your complete satisfaction. When choosing to stay with a family, you should recognize that a certain degree of flexibility will be required to adjust to the Argentine customs and way of life. Note: host families do not provide meals on Sunday!

COINED Ushuaia – Activities:
Excursions: In cooperation with well known Argentine tour operators, COINED organizes trips on weekends to different places of interest both locally and nation wide. The options are endless, from the magnificent mountains in Cordoba to a trip up north to Salta or to the Southern Province of Mendoza. This excursions must be arranged locally and are offered at extra charge. Prices will vary depending on excursion, location and length of trip.
Please Note: You may need to pay “out-of-pocket” expenses (bus fare, entrance fees, etc.) when activities take place outside of the school.
Airport Transfers: Transfers from Ushuaia airport are available upon request and at an additional charge of USD 75.00 each way.
