Stuttgart, the capital of the state of Baden Wurttemberg and one of the most prosperous and export-oriented German states, Stuttgart is situated on the River Neckar. It is the cultural and administrative center of Southwest Germany. It takes only a morning’s drive to reach Basel, Strasbourg or Munich. The famous University of Heidelberg is just 112 kilometers away and the Black Forest is very nearby. Less than a hundred kilometers from the French border and just over a 1000 kilometers from Switzerland, it can be reached easily from abroad. Stuttgart is surrounded by forests and vineyards, and a park forms the green heart of the city. In summer, you will appreciate the many outdoor public swimming pools, some of them fed from the many mineral springs in the area. It is surrounded by historically interesting towns and villages.

German Courses at The Anglo-German Institute (AGI), Stuttgart
AGI is a well-known non-profit German language school, located right in the center of Stuttgart, which offers German Courses for foreign students. It was founded in 1972. It began by teaching only English as a foreign language, but at the beginning of the 80’s it began to offer German language courses for foreigners. The institute has a privileged location in the center of town, close to shops, restaurants, cafes and public transportation. It is known for its unique relaxed and friendly atmosphere. This German school is characterized by small classes and friendly teachers who are always there to help the student. The school is equipped with audio-visual facilities, and a computer room with access to software designed to further develop the student’s language skills.

Note: Prices for German Courses include: instruction and class materials, guided activity program coordination and guide, BUT DO NOT include travel expenses and entrance fees to activities programmed by the institute. Students whose courses start before Summer dates – see below- may continue their courses through the summer schedule by adding USD 52 per week to prices listed above during those weeks that fall on July and August.
German Courses in Stuttgart – Course Options:
Standard German Course – Group 10 — 20 German lessons per week, 10 students maximum per class. 1 lesson = 45 minutes. January to mid-June and September to December:
Standard German Summer Course – Group 10 ( 30 June 2014 to 29 August 2014 only) — Summer course. 2 week minimum!. 20 German lessons per week, 10 students maximum per class (1 lesson = 45 minutes) and guided activities. Activities include visits to places of interest in and around Stuttgart, such as art galleries, botanical gardens and zoo, museums, brewery tour and films. Sports activities may also be offered. Prices include instruction and class materials, guided activity program coordination and guide, BUT DO NOT include travel expenses and entrance fees to activities programmed by the institute.
Important Notes: Minimum enrollment age: 16. For the purposes of forming homogenous groups, if the number of students at a certain level is less than 4, the school reserves the right to adjust the number of hours of training based on the number of students at that level. For example: if there are only 3 students at the same level a 20 lesson per week group course will be substituted for 15 mini-group lessons, if there are only 2 students at a specific level the course will be substituted for 10 semi-private lessons.

AGI Accommodations
Attention: Very few German families live in the center of town. Homestay students may have to travel between 20 and 40 minutes to the suburbs. The transportation system is excellent (buses, trams and subways) – approximately $30 per week should cover transportation expenses.
Host Family: Private room, no meals.

Activities
Activities are offered year round, with a more comprehensive activity program being offered during the Summer Program (see above).
Winter activity program: In the afternoons you have the opportunity to watch German films. Participants are invited
to join a walking tour of Stuttgart during their first week there. Their German “Stammtisch” gives you the opportunity to get to know Stuttgart´s many pubs and fellow participants and to practice your German conversation. Of course we speak German during all the different activities!
Summer activity program: We invite all course participates to join us on our afternoon excursions to town or its environs.
A relaxing barbecue in the old palace garden, a visit to the popular spa or the world-renowned zoo as well as a guided tour of the State Gallery are just some of the highlights on offer. If you like you can climb up the stairs to the top of Stuttgart`s TV tower or visit the new Mercedes-Benz Museum. In the evening you will get to know the best clubs and cafés in Stuttgart. We also urge you to join us on a weekend day tour of the enchanting towns of Heidelberg, Tübingen, Baden-Baden in the Black Forest or Lindau on the banks of Lake Constance.
