Spanish Courses in Cordoba, Argentina
Córdoba is a historical city situated in the geographical center of Argentina. The region is one of the most important tourist attractions of the country due to its pleasant climate and impressive landscape made up of valleys, lakes and little rivers. Córdoba has grown significantly over the last decade, as many new industries have settled down here. The construction of modern buildings, shopping centers and new neighborhoods has changed the appearance of the city somewhat. Córdoba retains its rich colonial heritage, however, as shown by several old churches, the Cabildo and the famous and prestigious National University of Córdoba, which attracts thousands of students from other parts of the country and the rest of South America. Due to its advantageous geographical position, Córdoba is taking a central role in the MERCOSUR (the Common Market constituted by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay) and is looking forward to a promising future.
Besides its rich cultural environment and economic development, it’s the kindness and openness of its 1,5 million inhabitants that make Córdoba such a livable city. That’s why COINED has found Córdoba an ideal environment for the development of its Spanish Language Courses and its intercultural programs.
Spanish Courses at COINED Internacional – Cordoba
The COINED Spanish Language School was founded in 1985 as the academic branch of the Argentine exchange student organization “Comisión de Intercambio Educativo”, better known in Spanish as COINED.
COINED is a non-profit organization active in the field of intercultural exchange and international education since 1971.
The Spanish school is located in downtown Córdoba, at a 5 minutes walking distance from Córdoba’s Main Square (Plaza San Martín) and very close to the historical places and commercial district.
You will feel at home just upon entering the Coined Spanish language school. Students love the friendly and cozy atmosphere and receive a very personalized service from the teachers and administrative Staff. Within a short distance of the school, you will find a lot of bars, restaurants, theaters and nightclubs where a lot of Argentinean students gather. Many open-air cultural events and concerts take place in the “Plaza de la Intendencia” and University district, which are located at 10 minutes walk from the School.
The Spanish courses cover all aspects of language learning (speaking, listening, writing and reading skills), and are is specially designed for foreign students. They are taught completely in Spanish. Four or six 55-minute classes are held every day from Monday through Friday and the student is free to choose the length of his or her course.
Average class size is 3 students and there are never more than 7 students in a class. Groups are organized in a way that they will always consist of students possessing the same level of Spanish. All teachers are Argentine native speakers of Spanish, trained and experienced in teaching Spanish to foreigners. Of course, if you prefer you can arrange your own accommodation (hotels, friends, etc.)
Host Families: Families belong to Argentina’s middle class, but living standards are a bit lower than in Europe or North America, depending on each situation. Family homes are located in neighborhoods near the center of the city. Public transport is good, easily accessible. All of the families have been carefully selected and are monitored so that your home stay experience is to your complete satisfaction. When choosing to stay with a family, you should recognize that a certain degree of flexibility will be required to adjust to the Argentine customs and way of life. Note: host families do not provide meals on Sunday!
Student Residences: You can choose a private or shared room in a student residence (hosting other argentine or international students). This option is recommended for younger students that desire to live more independently. Sharing a place with young people from all over the world is a great opportunity to learn about different cultures and make new friends as well as learning about the place in which you are studying. The main advantage of this type of accommodation is your independence and being able to participate in many social activities. Kitchen access to prepare your own meals if desired.

Comments from former students:
“I enjoyed my time at COINED very much. The teachers were excellent and the classes were always small to ensure a productive learning environment. Cordoba is a wonderful city. There are tons of things to do in the city: museums, restaurants, bars, dance clubs, etc. There are also a lot of outdoor activities that one can do outside the city which is nice. Because Cordoba is not overrun by tourists it retains its authenticity. You won’t find many people who speak anything but Spanish, which is great for learning the language.” – Mathew Ward
