Greek Courses in CRETE (Chania)
Chania is a picturesque city on the N. W. coast of Crete. Walking in Chania means coming across Minoan remains as well as Byzantine, Venetian, Ottoman and Neo-Classical landmarks, left by the different civilizations which flourished on the island and have been kept alive in the traditions and customs of the inhabitants.
The Venetian harbor of Chania is ringed with restaurants, taverns, cafeterias. The narrow streets of the city invite you to its mysteries. In the city one can find the Archaeological and Historical Museums, Venetian Churches, Greek Churches with old Byzantine frescoes, the Municipal Market, the Halepa Quarter and much more. Near Chania, the visitor may spend a day in Paleohora, walk to an island through shallow waters, or even go on safari in the longest gorge in Europe, Samaria.
The Hellenic Language school “Alexander the Great” in Chania is located in the area of Nea Chora in the west side of Chania. It is very close to the beautiful beach of Nea Chora and a busy strip of road with the best fish taverns in town. The center of the town is 10 minutes walking distance and there is also public transportation every 15 minutes.

Prices for Greek Courses include: number of lessons per week as stated below, placement test on arrival, books and study materials (text book, CD and grammar book), a welcome pack (containing maps, a city guide and a phrase book) as well as one guided visit in town. Each Lesson is 50 minutes long.
Intensive General Greek Course – Group 12 — 20 Greek language lessons per week, average number of students per class: 5, maximum number of students per class: 12. There are 8 course levels from beginners to advanced. New students are given a placement test and are placed in the appropriate level. Students are trained in all areas of language skills. Minimum age is 17 years.

Ancient Greek Group Course — 2 or 4 week program offered in the summer. Program includes 20 Ancient Greek lessons per week (each lesson is 50 minutes long), educational materials, museum visits, teacher led walks around Athens (4 in the 2 week program, 6 in the 4 week program) including the Acropolis, Ancient Athens, Medieval Athens, Modern Athens.

Students are briefed on social and cultural events and activities organized in the country and are urged to attend and participate in as many as possible, in order to acquire a true feeling of the modern Greek culture. In addition to their Greek Courses, the school organizes cultural and social events for its students: visits to archaeological sites, art museums, Greek dinners and swimming.
