Many Spaniards consider San Sebastian Spain’s most beautiful city. It is also one of the liveliest. When the sun sets, San Sebastian changes gear to charge headlong into a night of tapas and wine. Among the events to note are the San Fermines big Fiesta (mid July), the International Jazz festival (mid to late July), Semana Grande (mid August), and the International Film Festival (mid to late September). The Lacunza Spanish Language School is located near the center of San Sebastian, 10 minutes walking distance from the beach. It has been offering Full Immersion Spanish Courses in San Sebastian since 1989. Located in the strategic part of the city, in the city center, near the train and bus stations, one minute from the urban metro station and surrounded by shops and bars, the location is unbeatable. A 10-minute walk from La Concha beach and 1 minute from Reyes Católicos street with its bars, shops and restaurants and the Buen Pastor Cathedral, our location offers you a wide range of activities after your classes. Intensive Spanish Course — Group 12 (maximum of 12 students per class). Minimum enrollment age: 17 years. 20 Spanish lessons per week (45 minutes/lesson). The Intensive Spanish Course is a functional core Spanish Course oriented 100% at perfecting your Spanish skills in daily life. The Intensive Course is our core Spanish course for a reason: small group classes of no more than 12 students will participate in discussions, group-activities, oral practice, written work, and a variety of other learning techniques to ensure a complete education. Each group course is catered to your Spanish level and will cover everything from daily conversational topics to advanced expressions. All levels from beginner to advanced are offered (students are tested on the first day of the course to the determine their current Spanish Language level).

Intensive Spanish Course PLUS 5 — Group 12 (maximum of 12 students per class). Minimum enrollment age: 17 years. 20 Spanish lessons per week (45 minutes/lesson) PLUS 5 One-to-One lessons per week. The Intensive Spanish Course PLUS combines all the items listed above in the Intensive Course plus private lessons intended to allow students to further develop their skills, address problem areas or tailor this portion of the training to their own specific needs. All levels from beginner to advanced are offered (students are tested on the first day of the course to the determine their current Spanish Language level).

Intensive Spanish Course PLUS 10— Group 12 (maximum of 12 students per class). Minimum enrollment age: 17 years. 20 Spanish lessons per week (45 minutes/lesson) PLUS 10 One-to-One lessons per week. The Intensive Spanish Course PLUS combines all the items listed above in the Intensive Course plus private lessons intended to allow students to further develop their skills, address problem areas or tailor this portion of the training to their own specific needs. All levels from beginner to advanced are offered (students are tested on the first day of the course to the determine their current Spanish Language level).

Super Intensive Spanish Course — Minimum enrollment age: 17. 30 Spanish lessons per week (45 minute/lesson). This Spanish course is the ideal option for stays of up to 8 weeks if your goal is to rapidly increase your level of Spanish. It consists of 20 weekly lessons in small groups (4-12 students) as well as 10 sessions per week in mini-groups (3-8 students), with emphasis in conversation, language skills and Spanish culture. All levels from beginner to advanced are offered (students are tested on the first day of the course to the determine their current Spanish Language level).

Private lessons — 20 Spanish private lessons per week. Starts any Monday of the year.

Lacunza Spanish Courses – Starting Dates 2024:

Full beginners may only start on the following dates: 8 January; 5 February; 4 March; 2 and 22 April; 13 May; 3 and 17 June; 1, 15 and 29 July; 12 and 26 August; 9 and 30 September; 28 October; 25 November. All other levels may start any Monday.

Holidays 2024: 1 January, 6 January, 28-29 March, 1 April, 1 May, 25 and 31 July, 15 August, 12 October, 1 November, 6 December. Classes missed due to official Holidays are made up during the rest of the week. Group courses will end on 20 December 2024! School is closed from 23 December 2024 to 3 January 2025.

Lacunza – Accommodations

Accommodations are available with carefully chosen host families, sharing an apartment with other students, private apartments (limited availability) or at local hotels or “hostales”. Host Family accommodations are offered with single (private) or shared room, meals as listed below. Apartment Shares are offered with private or shared room with use of the common areas of the apartment. Meals are not included, but students have full use of the equipped kitchens. Prices for private apartments and hotels are available upon request.

Activities

Lacunza offers a complete activity program throughout the year to complement your Spanish Courses in San Sebastian, allowing students you to make the most out of their time there. Activities include: city tours, museum visits, sporting events, nature hikes, parties, festival celebrations, sports (surfing, beach sports, skiing, etc.), as well as excursions around the area. Activities are optional and offered at additional cost. Students receive a list of available activities and excursions during their first day of class.
