ABCHumboldt is a large language school which has been offering Spanish Courses in Barcelona since 1986. While is specializes in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, the school also offers English language courses to local residents and Spanish classes to foreign students visiting the city. The quality of their courses has enabled them to become one of the most prestigious language schools in Barcelona in a very short time.
ABCHumboldt is an Accredited Center by the Instituto Cervantes, is a member of FIYTO (Federation of International Youth Travel Organizations) and IALC (International Association of Language Centers) and their Spanish courses in Barcelona (Spanish as a Second Language courses) are recognized and accredited by the Universidad de Alcalá. As of 1 January 2015 ABCHumboldt specializes in Executive Spanish courses exclusively.
The Spanish school is located in a modern six-story building, custom-built to guarantee effective and comfortable language learning. All the classrooms are fully air-conditioned and equipped with audio-visual facilities (TV, video and cassette). The school also has a large projection/conference hall and a computer center with internet access, as well as a penthouse terrace with panoramic views of Barcelona. It is situated in the city center, near Plaza Molina, well connected by major subway and bus routes to the rest of the city.
The Executive Spanish Courses are divided according to level of ability, ranging from beginners to superior. The key feature of these courses is continuity, allowing students to extend their courses over the number of weeks required, starting any Monday. Absolute beginners must start on one of the specific dates as indicated below.
The classes have an average of 2-3 students of all nationalities, and are limited to a maximum of 4 students, to encourage optimum interaction between students and teacher.
The curriculum is carefully compiled and coordinated by the Director of Studies. The program is constantly revised and updated and can be adapted to meet the specific needs of a particular group of students. Students cover all the writing, reading, speaking and listening skills necessary for precise communication. Not only are they introduced to formal language structures, but also stimulated to use them in a variety of real life situations. Before moving up to a higher level, students are required to take an exam in order to evaluate their progress.

ABCHumboldt – Spanish Courses in Barcelona
Minimum age: 18. Group classes are 45 minutes each. All prices include number of lessons per week as indicated below, placement test, certificate of completion and internet access at the school. Books are included in the prices.
Spanish Courses Offered:
Intensive Spanish Course Mini Group – Group 4: Maximum of 4 students per class. 20 Spanish lessons per week. Enrollments from 1 to 36 weeks. The Mini Group Spanish courses assure more individual attention and maximum interaction in class.
Intensive Spanish PLUS Course Mini Group – Group 4: Maximum of 4 students per class in group portion. 20 Spanish lessons per week PLUS 5 private Spanish lessons per week. Enrollments from 1 to 36 weeks. The Intensive Spanish PLUS course can be personalized to meet specific needs. Mini Group Spanish courses assure more individual attention and maximum interaction in class.

Holidays 2020: 1-6 January, 10-13 April, 1 May, 24 June, 15 August, 11 September, 12 October, 1 November, 6 December, 8 December. The school will be closed between 23 and 31 December 2020. Classes lost due to National Holidays are NOT made up.

ABCHumboldt – Accommodations
abc Humboldt offers accommodations in host families, shared apartments and at a student residence located close to the school:
- All host families are selected by abc Humboldt and are near or within easy reach (bus, subway) of the school.
- All students are accommodated in single rooms.
- Apartments are shared with other students and frequently with the owner. Single rooms. The kitchen, living room, bathroom, etc. are shared.
- Student Residence (Summer only!): Small residence (8 to 16 students) offering TV, telephone and a pleasant relaxed atmosphere, situated very near the school. Single or double rooms. Shared bathrooms. Microwave and fridge available. No kitchen nor laundry facilities available!. There are many cafes and cheap restaurants in the area.

ABCHumboldt – Activities
ABCHumboldt offers a complimentary program of social activities to make students’ stay in Barcelona as enjoyable as possible. The program includes weekly cultural activities, films, excursions, a sample of Barcelona’s night life, etc.
Transport, entrance fees and meals during school arranged activities are not included in the price of the Spanish courses, students pay for these charges directly. Students may also join a local sports club at special discounted rates.
Airport Transfer: from Barcelona Airport available upon request and at additional cost of USD 118 one-way.
