Viña del Mar is located 2 hours from Santiago in the cost and along with Valparaiso they form a medium size city of aproximatly one million inhabitants. The modern city of Viña del mar contrasts with the old city of Valparaiso even though they are just next to each other and separated by one street.

Spanish Courses in Viña del Mar at ECELA – Latin Immersion
The Latin Immersion ECELA Spanish Language School in Viña del Mar is located in a safe neighborhood only a few blocks from the beach at one of South America’s most famous oceanside resort areas.
The ECELA Spanish school is located in a privileged area of Viña del Mar, in a radio of 4 blocks there are more than 50 restaurants and cafes, the beach is only three blocks from the school, and many tourist attractions are found close by.

Spanish courses in Viña del Mar at the ECELA Spanish School are offered in twelve different levels, each level lasting 2 weeks each. All teachers are native speakers of Spanish, university graduates, and experienced in teaching Spanish as a second language.

ECELA – Spanish Courses in Viña del Mar, Chile
Minimum age: 18 (Students under 17 only accepted in One-to-One Spanish courses and when accompanied by an adult)
Spanish Courses – Options:
Standard Spanish Course: Group Course. 20 Spanish group lessons a week (4 lessons per day Monday-Friday, each lesson=50 Minutes). Minimum stay one week. Morning (9AM-1PM) or afternoon (2PM-6PM) schedules available. 7 students maximum per class. Prices include materials, placement test on arrival, periodic progress exams and certificate of completion.
Private Spanish Course: Choose 10 or 20 Spanish one-to-one lessons per week (each lesson=50 Minutes). Minimum stay one week. Professional Spanish One-to-One classes adapted to specific needs (medical, business, trade, law, etc.) are also available at a 25% surcharge. Prices include materials, placement test on arrival, periodic progress exams, certificate of completion, three weekday activities per week, one coaching session per week and access to tutorials.

Group Spanish Courses for ALL levels can start ANY Monday.
Private Spanish Courses: ALL levels can start any Monday.
Holidays 2020: 1 January, 10 April, 1 May, 18 September, 25 December. Classes missed due to official holidays are not made up. The school will be closed during the following holidays but classes will be made up during the rest of the week with no maximum number of students respected: 21 May, 29 June, 16 July, 12 October, 8 December.
ECELA – Viña del Mar Accommodations
Ecela offers different types of accommodations to their students. They have many well screened and experienced families around town or, you may stay in private rooms in Shared Apartments.
Of course, if you prefer you can arrange your own accommodation (hotels, friends, etc.)
Host Families: All of the families have been carefully selected and are monitored so that your home stay experience is to your complete satisfaction. The Standard Host Family offers a private room with half board (2 meals per day). or a private room with kitchen access to prepare your own meals (no meals provided by the family). The VIP Host Family offers a private room, private bathroom, half board (2 meals per day), and Wi-Fi.
Apartment Shares: You will have a private room and share the bathroom and kitchen with other students. No meals, full use of equipped kitchen to be able to prepare your own meals. Ecela’s shared apartments in Viña del Mar are located in safe and quiet areas of the city. They all have Wi-Fi.

Studying a language abroad means more than attaining fluency. We also want to ensure that your time in Latin America will be the experience of a lifetime. To help you gain new Latin perspectives and to best understand the local culture, we take on the responsibility to coordinate optional social events.
Some of the activities and excursions offered are:
La Sebastiana– Experience the quirky museum/house of beloved Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda.
Cooking Lessons – Learning to prepare food typical to the region, including empanadas and sopapillas
Paseo en Lancha – Tour the coast in a small boat and visit important parts of the harbor.
Asensores de Valparaiso – Explore the hills of Valparaiso by cable car! Experience the “Patrimonio de la Humanidad”.
Salsa Classes – Learn to dance salsa to prepare for nights out in Viña or Valpo.

Excursion to La Campana – The natural reserve of La Campana is convenient to Viña del Mar.
Isla Negra – Visit Pablo Neruda’s famous house and spend a relaxing day on the coast.
Cerro la Campana – Trek the beautiful Parque Nacional, one of the country’s most famous natural reserves.
Viñedos – Tour of the area’s wine producing valley of Casablanca.

Airport Transfers: Transfers from Santiago airport are available upon request and at an additional charge of USD 160 each way. There is frequent bus service from Santiago to Viña del Mar which can make the trip considerably cheaper (approx. USD 35.00)

This is my ninth week at Ecela Viña del Mar and I’ve enjoyed every one of my 45 days here. The teachers are very professional and very informal at the same time. They skillfully tailor the classes to the needs of the students. During the Monday welcomes and the Friday goodbyes, as well as during all of the breaks, everyone talks and jokes around together. The afternoon activities have included a wide range of things: going salsa dancing in the evening, walking on the dunes and visiting museums, to name just a few. I’d be happy to study 9 more weeks here!
