A full immersion Spanish Summer Camp for Teenagers is offered in the town of Santo Domingo de Heredia, a small town of less than 60 thousand people located just a few miles from the capital city of San José.

The Spanish Summer Camp in Costa Rica is operated by Don Quijote. Don Quijote is one of the largest Spanish schools in the world with more than 20 locations across Spain and latin America. It has been offering Spanish courses in Costa Rica since 2005
The Spanish school is located in the picturesque town of Santo Domingo, just a few miles from the capital city of San José. This nice and quiet village is typical Costa Rican and doesn´t have a lot of tourism. The school is surrounded by a tropical garden with palm trees and exotic plants, and has 15 bright, spacious classrooms that provide an excellent learning environment.
There are shops, restaurants and cafés within walking distance of the school. The centers of San Jose and Heredia are just 10 to 15 minutes away by bus. The school also provides wireless internet free of charge for your laptop. Alternatively, you can also use one of the Internet cafés located near the school for a small charge.
Spanish Camp in Costa Rica – Overview:
The Teen Spanish Summer Camp in Costa Rica has been specifically designed for teenagers between 13 and 17 years of age (inclusive).
The teen program consists of 2 or 4 weeks Spanish course + activity program. You´ll have 4 Spanish lessons per day in the morning and in the afternoon/ evening you can have fun with your fellow students by participating in the activity program with interesting workshops, sports, games and social and cultural events.
Lessons will take place in small groups of up to 10 students (average 6). All students are between the ages of 14 and 17. Classes are taught by native Spanish speaking teachers whose teaching methods are fun and modern. You will be staying with a Host Family who will take good care of you. All of our families have been carefully selected and the vast majority lives within 20 minutes walking distance of the school. We guarantee a maximum of 30 minutes walking distance. You will be placed in single or double room (sharing with another student of the same sex) according to availability. The family will take care of your breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Spanish Summer Camp – ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE:
Students will be accompanied from the moment of their arrival at the airport. As the airport TRANSFER service is included in the course, participants will be met at the airport and accompanied to their place of accommodation. On the day of departure, participants will again be met at their accommodation address and accompanied to the airport.
Spanish Summer Camp – ACCOMMODATIONS:
Accommodation for this program is offered in HOME-STAYS with specially selected and supervised host families. Accommodations include full board (three meals per day: breakfast, lunch and dinner) and in a double room. The host families will accompany participants to the school on the first day of class.
All of the families have been carefully selected and the vast majority lives within 20 minutes walking distance of the school (they guarantee a maximum of 30 minutes walking distance). Students are placed in single or double rooms (sharing with another student of the same sex) according to availability. The family will take care of your breakfast, lunch and dinner. The school maintains close contact with each host family throughout the length of each home-stay.
Spanish Summer Camp – SUPERVISION:
There will be continuous supervision in school, during the activity program and in the Host Family to ensure a safe environment for the students.
The friendly and supportive school team will be taking care of the students while in Costa Rica. In addition to Spanish, which is the native language of all our teachers, they also speak English. The teaching staff is ready to help you at any time. There is a 24h emergency phone number students can call in case they need something urgently. Host families will supervise students during their time at their home.
Spanish Summer Camp – SPANISH CLASSES:
Before the start of course, participants will undergo a LANGUAGE PLACEMENT TEST. Based on the results of the test, students will be assigned to small groups of the same level.
Students participate in an INTENSIVE SPANISH COURSE consisting of 4 lessons per day (20 lessons per week) using methodology especially adapted to the needs of this age group. The small groups (with a maximum of 10 participants per class) create a friendly environment between participants and teacher, making the learning experience more natural and inductive. Classes are taught by native Spanish speaking teachers whose teaching methods are fun and modern.
At the end of the course each participant will receive an Attendance Certificate.
Spanish Summer Camp – ACTIVITIES:
To enhance the learning experience there is a DAILY PROGRAM OF CULTURAL AND LEISURE ACTIVITIES organized by the school and carried out by the group leader and fully experienced teachers. These activities take place in the afternoon and attendance is mandatory. Activity program sample:

NOTES:
Rules: The school has drawn up a set of Rules of Behavior for minors. A copy will be sent to both parents and participants before arrival and will have to be accepted and signed in order to participate in our program. If, once on the course, participants do not comply with these rules, their parents will be informed and Academia Columbus will take which ever course of action they decide to be most appropriate depending on the seriousness of the misbehavior.
